Hi Katja, one more week, one more article. By the way, how’s your pregnancy going? (Katja is 8 months pregnant at the time of this interview)
Very good, I’m growing away.
And your pain? (Today she's in a bit of pain)
Yes, it’s painful. The ligaments. I just have no energy, very bad memory, swollen feet, swollen hands, heart burn, all the good things that come with being pregnant! (she laughs).
How is this affecting the business?
Is a quite time so it's ok. This is the time to start filling out our diary for the summer.
Are you expecting to be busy this summer? (2015)
Oh, yes, very busy with festivals and private catering. We have a few weddings lined up which is going to be exciting to cater for.
Well, I wanted this interview to concentrate on helping people with street food wedding ideas. Why do people like to hire a van/stall for catering for their wedding day?
Well, in our last article you asked me something similar. I told you that English people like Germany and in particular Oktoberfrest, the bratwurst - the size of the sausage can be fun - it is a simple dish that can go well with alcohol, you can wear the dirndls, play German music, you can make it really festive... Bringing a bit of Germany to your special event (weddings, birthdays, celebrations in general, etc).
Yes, ok, I did but I wasn’t referring to German sausages in particular . Just street food in general.
Ah, ok... Street food... Because it’s new. It started to be really popular just a few years ago and it's fun to do: hire a funky looking trailer/ gazebo and have it at your special event or party. It adds a bit of excitement, it’s something different that people really enjoy. It’s funky, it’s funny, it’s exciting.
I have seen all sorts of funny looking trailers (mainly trailers, not so much the gazebos) and an interesting looking one can really make a difference (i’ve seen how they rebuild them and they end up looking really cool).
So, why not have them at your wedding?
Indeed. Let’s give people now ideas for street food at their wedding party.
Here are Katja's top 5 options?

Well, I think if I it was my wedding I would want something to be prepared freshly like a barbecue and different kind of dishes. I suppose it would be…. hm, fish, yes. Fish is always something good to have. Fresh fish (maybe I’m thinking of having the wedding in the mediterranean, lol.) tastes tastes fantastic; then there's the nice feel of the charcoal, the smells, the smoke... you can see how everything is prepared and cooked. Better than a buffet in my view.
A nice friendly person behind the grill presenting it all really nicely.... I truly believe this is a fantastic idea. So, yes, fresh fish really well presented.

This always goes well on a wedding. Not for the first meal, but later on in the evening when everyone has started drinking. Then something like this comes at the right time: a nice, lovely burger. I’m not talking about the usual burgers, but something special like Korean burgers, Italian burgers, etc. Freshly prepared before at home, marinated overnight, and.. yeah, lovely soft tasty bread (special bread, not the burger bread), etc.

Why to have the cool crepes? They can be savoury or sweet. Not the ones you find everywhere and because of it they might appear boring; but I have seen French ones selling out of a really nice looking trailer. On a wedding it has to have a certain look - to give that special effect. I think it’s fantastic to have the fresh strawberries out, nice different selection for savoury crepes. And, let’s face it, everyone likes crepes! I think this would look really nice on a wedding party.

A very good vegetarian paella or a meaty one. It looks very nice in the big pan and it’s always very tasty. It’s perfect for a wedding, it adds ta bit of fun - paella is paella, an amazing looking dish that tastes really good. Nothing else to say, it’s perfect.

If we’re talking about being outside, we can go for this sort of thing. Jerk chicken is fantastic (not everyone loves it though). You can have it spicy, medium, or even a "vegetarian option" (somehow done with beans and sweet potatoes). It’s fantastic, a nice option for your wedding party. Everything starts late afternoon, people are already having a good time, etc, so bringing the jerk chicken stall option out is a great way for people to eat and have fun at the same time.
